Valley Forge

If you have come to visit Southport and The Cottages at Southport during the fourth of July celebrations or a naturalization ceremony you probably remember the tug boat in the harbor that presented you with a red white and blue shower of water from its three water cannons. We were also lucky enough to cross the Cape Fear River with the Wounded Warriors. On that day also the proud tug was sent from Sunny Point to greet the warriors on the Southport side of the river.  The Valley Forge is an Army boat, yes you read it correctly, and it is an Army boat. I am told that at one time the Army had more boats then the Navy.
So now you are asking me why I am telling you about a tug boat. It suddenly hit me last night that on the week that they announced the retirement after 56 years of the tug /fireboat Valley Forge we were preparing to also go to the Valley Forge.  This Valley Forge is in Penn just north of Philadelphia. We at the Cottages and Cardinal Construction were preparing to leave for the Big South Home Show at the Valley Forge Convention Center to tell people about the charm of Southport and The Cottages at Southport. This Fourth of July there will probably be no tug boat Valley Forge but hopefully we will have a few more good neighbors from Valley Forge.
