Laurie Mays has had a lifelong fascination with real estate, having been raised by a father who worked in the construction industry all of his life. She was born and raised in Lexington, Kentucky, a true Southerner whose step-father was a horse trainer up until his retirement. She lived in California for a few years as a teenager, ultimately returning to her hometown and attending both the University of Kentucky and Eastern Kentucky University. After her two children were grown, Laurie pursued her childhood dream of living near the ocean and relocated to Wilmington in 2007. Over the past twelve years, she has come to see the Cape Fear area as “home” and is excited to share her beloved community with those new to the area as well as those who have had the privilege of living here long-term. Prior to becoming a Realtor®, Laurie worked in the business side of medicine. She started in the medical field as a teenager, earning multiple certifications in medical administration, and continues this work today. She is passionate about helping people by using the same customer service and management skills she has gleaned over the years, yet in a new way with real estate.
Laurie is a certified Military Relocation Professional (MRP) via The National Association of Realtors® and understands the unique needs faced by active duty military members and their families.
Laurie can best be described as an honest, hard-working professional who is highly organized and takes an “all or nothing” approach to all of her endeavors. She now resides in Hampstead, along with her 50 year old blue and gold macaw “Max.” When she isn’t working, Laurie enjoys dancing, singing karaoke and learning Spanish.
