Avenel is a rare gem located on the Intracoastal Waterway before the Figure Eight Island bridge. The neighborhood maintains stately homes starting in the 500's, heavily wooded surroundings, tree canopied roads and large, private lots as well as some rolling hills, unique to the area. Avenel also maintains newly refurbished docks and community pier that stretches out into the Intracoastal Waterway. Some of Avenel's home sites offer deeded water rights to boat slips located on the ICW, some of which have boat lifts. The roads in Avenel have character with raised timber medians separating each side of the road as well as unique street signs that add to the community's charm.
