If you a golfer in the Wilmington area, you are definitely in luck! The Wilmington area boasts a wide variety of public, semi private and private courses in a price range that is sure to fit any one's budget. We have courses designed by some of the great architects such as Donald Ross, Pete Dye and Jack Nicklaus just to name a few.
Located in the heart of Wilmington is the Municipal Golf Course. This public daily play course is a signature Donald Ross design that is very golfer friendly and very enjoyable to walk. The course is home to the Mens and Womens Wilmington City Amatuer played every fall as well as various men's and women's golf leagues. The course offers generous fairways, strategically placed bunkers and small greens that allow for a variety of different approach shots. A practice area as well as a putting green are available without the purchase of a greens fee.
Just north of Wilmington the town of Hampstead offers golfers three courses in Belvedere Plantation, Olde Point and Castle Bay. All three courses offer a challenging 18 hole layout as well as pool, tennis and restaurant facilities. Memberships are available as well as PGA instruction and practice facilities. Belvedere Plantation's tree lined fairways paired with the elevated and undulated greens make this a challenge for golfers of all levels. The numerous blind shots, elevation changes and slick greens make Olde Point feel like you are playing a new course every round. The links style course of Castle Bay offers you a true Scottish test, the deep fescue grass along with the ever changing winds make this course a must play for the golf enthusiast.
A short drive south of Wilmington over the Cape Fear Bridge is home to Magnolia Greens and Cape Fear National. Magnolia Greens offers 27 holes of championship golf and has been host to the PGA qualifying tournament as well as numerous North Carolina mini tour events. They offer discounted rates for property owners as well as local residents. A fully stocked pro shop and dining facilities make Magnolia Greens a truly enjoyable golf experience. One of the newest courses to hit the Wilmington area is Cape Fear National located inside Brunswick Forest. This Tim Cate design is available for daily play and offers lush fairways, fast greens and superb conditions.
